Program Overview

The AAS program expands on the college’s existing 30-credit Certificate in Medical Office Assistant, adding advanced clinical and administrative competencies. This ensures students are well-prepared for tasks ranging from medical coding and billing to assisting physicians with examinations. With healthcare being one of the fastest-growing industries in the U.S., graduates are positioned to thrive in a competitive job market.

Students gain expertise in administrative tasks like managing medical records, handling insurance claims, and scheduling appointments. On the clinical side, the program covers essential skills such as taking patient histories, performing EKGs, phlebotomy, and sterilizing instruments. All training emphasizes both technical proficiency and patient-centered care.

The program includes core courses like Medical Coding and Billing, Phlebotomy Technology, and Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technology. • Successful completion of two writing-intensive courses.
